Project overview
Forest Edge Restoration rebuilds canopy cover across disturbed margins where fragmented forest meets cleared or degraded land. Oxivia mapped the site into verification zones, established baseline biomass with LiDAR, and deployed native replanting to stabilize edges before leakage could spread into the wider reserve.
The challenge
Exposed forest margins were losing canopy density, increasing reversal risk and making it harder to defend sequestration claims during audit cycles. Field teams needed a restoration plan that could recover biomass quickly while producing traceable evidence for every planting block and monitoring event.
Our approach
We combined satellite canopy analysis with on-the-ground survival checks across priority edge zones. Native species were planted to rebuild vertical structure, while moisture and biomass trends were logged into Oxivia's verification workflow. Each audit checkpoint, buffer allocation, and certificate event is recorded on-chain for partner transparency.
Results
Within the first monitoring cycle, edge zones showed measurable canopy recovery and improved biomass stability across restored blocks. Verified removals from the site now support partner portfolios with defensible MRV documentation. The project serves as a reference model for buffer restoration around high-value forest reserves.
